2001 ws6 I met a guy today who is selling a 2001 Trans Am WS6 for $24,000 and I want to get a few opinions on whether the car would be worth it. Firstly it is a WS6, and I have checked out a few different sites which say they made around 3800 WS6 coupes in '01, so it is not as rare as my 1996 WS6. It does have all of the options that I would like if I get one, including the WS6 package, t-tops, and a 6 speed. The color combination is very nice, it is Navy Blue Metallic with an Ebony interior. Is NBM a rare color? I have never seen one that color before in, most that I see are black, white, red, and a few SOM ones. It is also a one owner car and he has all of the documentation, which is very important to me because I have my firebirds that are drivers and this one would more of an investment piece that I would leave bone stock. the car has 1,800 miles on it, but I still feel like $24,000 is a bit high. Does anyone know how rare the Navy Blue Metallic WS6s are? Also what would be a good price for this car? Any input is appreciated.

There's a couple ways to look at this,
1. This is basically a brand new 2001 WS6 Trans Am
2. Where else are you going to buy a "new" Trans Am? No more Pontiac
However, a couple things to me make $24,000 a stretch here in 2012.
3. It's an 01, yes it's low miles but for $24,000 you can get a 2,000 mile 2002 WS6 CETA or convertible Firehawk. Outside of a CETA, the 2002s bring more money as they are the "last year."
4. It's NBM, which is not as common but might as well be number 3 or 4 behind red, black and silver. So it's not like it's one of the 9 purple 98 WS6s.
5. Don't buy this as an investment, no Pontiac built after 1979 save for the 89 TTA and 91-92 Firehawks will ever be worth a damn.
6. $24,000 puts this in the restored muscle car money bracket. Which would you rather have, a 20,000 mile Bandit Trans Am or this generic 01 TA? How bout a 89 Turbo TA with 10,000 miles? See what I mean, the only Trans Am that would be more expensive is a 69-73.
7. For about the same money you can buy an ultra low mileage 02-04 Z06. Or for about $3000 more you can buy a 2007 GT500 with under 20,000 miles or a Viper RT/10.
It all comes down to if you think it's a good deal. Me, I'd pass.

That is at least $5000 too high, probably closer to $10000. If you are going to apply for a car loan the bank is not going to go for it.
If you have the money, and that's the car you want, knock your self out. I got mine for $14000 at 14000 miles about 5 years ago.

Payed 12000 for my trans am and its a 01 with 10kthe miles on a 408 stroker engine. Basically paying for what you buy but I wouldn't spend 24 on a stock t/a would rather get a z06 for that kinda money

There were at least 477 NBM WS6 coupes w/ M6 built in 2001.
Note that I said "at least", this is due to the fact that the data source (CompNine) appeared to be missing ~509 2001 Firebirds overall from their database compared to other data sources. For 2001 WS6s specifically, CompNine and the other data source's numbers are below:
CompNine:
- Total 2001 WS6 coupes: 6779
- w/ M6: 3668
- w/ M6 & NBM: 477
Other data source:
- Total 2001 WS6 coupes: 7073
- w/ M6: 3832
- w/ M6 & NBM: unknown (no info on the breakdown to this level from this data source)
Model-wide, NBM/28U made up 11.3% of the 2001 Firebird production. It was the 4th rarest color that year behind MTM/79U (1.5%), SOM/71U (3.9%) and MRM/44U (4.7%). WRT WS6 colors, NBM was actually more common than White that year.
