1997 SS Air Filter housing question

1997 SS Air Filter housing question I just recently picked up a 1997 SS #390 and have a question about the air filter assembly. Everything that I have read said that the air filter housing said Z28SS on 1996 SS models and was dropped in 1997.
My 1997 SS says Z28SS on the filter housing. I know for a fact it has never been changed.
Was there a certain number of early 1997 cars that received the Z28SS housing? My car was made 9/96.
I've posted a picture. I just started to clean up the car so please excuse the dirt.

They in fact did use the Z28 SS air filter housing in some early production 1997 SS's. I own one that looks just like yours. I actually drove mine off the lot and remember having this discussion back then.
Unfortunately I never heard numbers regarding this. Hope that helps.
