Is this a REAL Firehawk???
VIN # 2G2FV22G112114952
I am most likely going to purchase this car (2001 Firehawk), it has all the firehawk stuff such as decals, rims, tires, hood badge, interior plaque, and SLP Loudmouth.
However....it does not have an SLP air lid...didn't they all come with this in 2001? In addition, there is no numbered plaque on the motor.
How can I find out if this is for real, and why doesn't it have the SLP air lid?
Any advice, proof would be well appreciated.

I have a 2000 and it did not come with an SLP airlid either. You can go to http://www.hoodscoop.com and they have a section where you can find your build # and authenticity.

2001's didn't come with SLP airlids, the 02's did, best thing to do anyways is run the vin by SLP...

If they didn't come with the airlids, then what makes them cooler/better than just a "regular" WS-6. It doesn't seem like there's any real performance reason for me to purchase this car.

Re: Is this a REAL Firehawk???
All depends on what options they are ordered with, mine was loaded...
Changes are...
Hood..
Catback exhaust (slp dual-dual) best flowing on the market...
Floormats..
Deckmat...
Chrom Rims...
Bilstein suspension..
Auburn Differential...
Firehawk SZ50 tires...
And 1 out of 540....

I'm not sure how many 6-speed's were made, I "had" one of them, that tranny was toast after 8,000 miles though...
You will love that car, take care of it...
There were 540 total made in 2001

What happened to the tranny?
Wow, only 540 total, thats awesome.
How come the build # is listed as 0086?
Wouldn't it be 086 if it were only 540 total?

Definetely an 01.
how do I find out the options it had? The door sticker is almost 100% unreadable. all I could make out was Bilstein and Auburn. what other cool options were there?

There were 366 '01 6 speed Hawk's made. 504 Hawk's total shipped to the USA. A little over 40 more were shipped out in Canada. Check out SLP site and also firehawk.com there are a number of people there you can help you find out specifically what you Hawk came with option wise.

Re: Is this a REAL Firehawk???
I have to disagree with the guy that said the SLP Dual/Dual is the best flowing exhaust on the market. Simply put the dual/dual off my 99 firehawk was the most quiet, restrictive, POS catback i've heard on a LS1 beside a hooker catback i heard that also sounded like dick. My last 99 WS6 came with a flowmaster cheap *** catback but it sounded awesome. I had borla up until a few months ago, that sounded pretty good. But the king of catback's for me is the B&B tri flow which is going on my firehawk now : ) I wouldn't worry about that lid. I heard the regular aftermarket lids flow better anyways. Lastly, WS6's are pretty common and firehawks are much more rare. Even though i do miss the more aggressive ram air hood of my WS6.
