My Firehawk has the Chrome Firehawk Wheels, The Chrome on the Inside Barrels are Flaking, What is everyone with this Problem doing about it? ReChroming? Painting the Barrels? Powdercoating? I am looking for some ideas.

The firehawk rims were made by american racing, fwiw.
Mine do too has 99% of them flake on the inside, other than rechrome, not sure of any other avenues to pursue.

Mine are only pitting at this point, I will paint the
"barrels" chassis black when it comes flake time.

Maybe if you quit polishing them noone will notice.

I had serious flaking, pitting etc., I spoke to a tech at SLP, told me to wire wheel the inside the best i could and prep and paint with aluminum colored heat resistant paint, it seems that heat is #1 factor in our problem. I did the above, but the pits are somewhat still evident, I think I will advise you all, to do this, however paint it a engine type paint non- gloss black. No not flat black, just a satin type. I will do this next time. I am sure it will hide the pitting. Oh yeah set some time aside, because your going to mask the front of the wheel so no over spray hits, that takes a while, and wear eye protection and painters mask when wire wheeling.

Mine flaking also. I already painted the insides black but where the spokes meet the rim and around the tire valve are flaking HUGE. I gotta find someone in NJ that does chroming so I can get them done this winter.

mine did that years ago...i spoke with slp and they said they would only warranty the outside spokes and that i was on my own as far as the barrels. so i grinded all the chrome off the inside of the barrels and painted them high temp silver with a high temp clear witch made them a semi gloss grey ,non noticeable clean look.

Mine is doing it bad inside the rim and the outside is starting to pit a little bit. How much is it for re-chroming? Do you have to do any of the prep work? How well does it fix or hide the pits?

How much are they charging you? Is there a warranty for the chrome? My rims look bad and I want to get them done over the winter when the Hawk is in storage.

They have a 2 Year Warranty on the Chroming, Which, If You take Care of it, Will last much longer.. Not Sure of the Price Yet, But it isn't cheap.
