For immediate release, July 23, 2012 - Round 5 of the Formula Drift series took place at Evergreen Speedway in Monroe, Washington on July 21 and 22, 2012. Aurimas Bakchis (Odi) returned to Evergreen Speedway for the second time in his drifting career and qualified 17th in his CBM MOTORSPORTS
Powered LS2 Team M7 Japan Nexen Tire Nissan 240SX S14.
Bakchis was paired with Michael Essa for the Saturday Top 32 competition and brought an aggressive driving style to the tandem runs. After considering the reported horsepower of Essa's BMW, Bakchis indicated that he overestimated the speed while following and ultimately hit Essa on the high bank. The impact caused a correction and Bakchis managed to quickly regain proximity. After a strong lead run and much deliberation from the judges, Essa advanced to Top 16 and Bakchis finished the event with Top 32 standings.
The Top 32 finish in Washington set Bakchis in 10th place overall for the 2012 Formula Drift USA series. The Bakchis Motorsports team is looking forward to Round 6 in Las Vegas, Nevada in late August with the support of M7 Japan, Nexen Tire, M7 Drive Energy Drink, Feal Suspension, 702 Graphics, Torco, Clutch Masters, Mishimoto, Top Line Industrial, AIT Racing, Dstroyr, Sikky Manufacturing, XXR Wheels, Weir Performance, Battle Version, and CBM Motorsports.
