Default Camaro pwr antenna question

I am going to put a Firebird Monsoon headunit into my 99 Camaro and install a GM pwr antenna, I have read the write ups for the conversion but that was with stock Camaro headunits, if I use the Firebird headunit will it be 100% plug and play or do I still have to splice wires??

The problem with a power antenna in a Camaro is not with the head unit - it's with the wiring harness. Both the Camaro and Firebird head units have the necessary pin to provide power for the antenna but only Firebird wiring harnesses have a wire connected to that pin.

So the answer is yes - you still have to do the wiring. And if the reason you're putting a Firebird HU in your Camaro is for the power antenna, don't bother. You'll still have to do the same amount of work and you'll end up with a HU that doesn't match your dash or illumination and you'll be giving up the speed controlled volume feature of the Camaro HU.
