Default Can this Monsoon HU control the CD changer?

I just picked up a Monsoon CD player that has a date of Mar 24 2000. Would this unit have CD Changer Control capability?
I own a 97 Formula, and it has the wiring harness for a CD Changer, but not the capability (I proved it in Mar 97 when I tried it). How can I tell w/o a CD Changer (the one I had went back to the dealer in Mar 97).
I've read thru the stickies, done a search, etc. These are Pontiac units, so they don't have the AUX button that apparently are on the Camaro units.
Thanks in advance.

Since its a 2000, it should work with the CD Changer. The only way to find out for certain is to A) open it and look for the specific ID on the motherboard, B) plug it in and try it. I vote for Option B.

Actually, Option B is much easier since it is currently on my workbench for the AUX input modification, and I don't currently have a changer, as I mentioned. What ID do I look for, please?

nemss1, that is my point. I want to find one that does the controlling, but do the swap only once. I have proven to myself that I have at least one HU that does not do the controlling.

Not quite.

The following can control the stock CD Changer
1998-2002 Cassette
2000-2002 CD (some late 1999 as well)

O.K., if you find it, just LMK. If I find it, I will append it to this thread.

Those dates are what give me hope. I know that if the HU dated March 24th 2000 was a 2000 model, I am pretty safe. But until I purchase a Changer to test, I am pretty much at the Chicken and Egg crossroads. Which one works first? IDK, if I buy a Changer and it doesn't work with the HU, which one is at fault? If the circuits were designed correctly, it won't even send any signals to the harness until it senses a changer out there, so trying a voltmeter would be a moot point.

Here is the thread with the different codes and photos of where to locate them: https://ls1tech.com/forums/stereo-el...mid-99-up.html

You shouldn't have any problem with a March 2000 HU since the 2000 model year started in the fall of 1999.

BTW, the equivalent of the CD/AUX button in Camaros is the CD/PLAY button in Firebirds. Other than labeling, the buttons both work the same.

Thanks WhiteBird00. I added it to the Monsoon FAQ.
