Default Radio Dosen't remeber Time????

Why dosn't my factory Monsoon radio in my 02 SS rember the time. It remebers everything else including the presets. I don't understand. This first started when the local dealer replaced the radio because the factory one went out. I had them replace it under my extended warranty. What could this be? Is the radio defective or what???? thanks trevor

I think I would go back to the dealer and make them fix it.

Unless it is a defective radio, I agree with nemss1. I've had my monsoon out of my car for days at a time and after reinstalling, it still remembers my presets, though I don't know how.

with a cd in the radio and the car off (and door opened so radio stops working) try to eject the disc. it should work. if not i than radio has no power without ignition which is that wire.

thanx xny1989. yup, exactly what the last post explains. there is a power without ignition wire which is how the radio remembers time and is able to eject a cd without a key in the ignition. the radio will still remember presets if it is set to

the wire is either the yellow or the orange wire. i dont remember exactly which one

Ok I took alook at it and the car remebers all the presets just fine. The time is the only thing that it looses. It dosen't loose the time everytime the car is shut. You can steal get the cd out without the car on, or the key in the ignition. I had the radio replaced over a year ago. So I doubt that I could take the car back. I am starting the think that the radio is defective.

yeah sounds defective. good news is its factory and therefore real cheap. if it really bugs you get another one on here or ebay or something.

Is your extended warranty expired? I would at least go talk to the dealer that replaced it. Explain to them that the issue started when they replaced the unit. Depending on your dealer, they might take care of it. I have had limited success getting repairs done out of warranty in the past.
