Default Factory alarm and aftermarket HU?

Factory alarm and aftermarket HU?

Will the factory alarm still work? Since the settings are typically done through the stereo, is it the alarm itself, or just a setting entry point?

Thanks for any input.

The factory radio on the 4th-gen f-body is just a radio. The alarm settings do not go through the radio.

LOL, my bad then. I have had the car since new in 98 and could have sworn they did. I thought I set something up way back then.

Good to know.

My electrical system is heavily under the knife. A stock PCM running the ABS, HVAC, fans, gages, then the engine is run by Big Stuff 3 and I have the new stereo. I hope it all works.

Probably was pulling the Radio fuse to enter programming mode.

You may have activated TheftLoc which is a security feature built into the factory headunit itself, independent of the factory alarm.
