Those in the sail panel are subwoofer are 6.5s. I'm guessing the alpines were not so good thing you couldn't get them in. You need to make a 3/8 to 1/2 spacer for the larger magnet speaker. I just installed some elemental design 6.5s subs and I love them.

Hey guys, this is a convertible - the usual sail panel subs won't fit because the top uses up the space behind them. You need some shallow 6.5" woofers. Maybe Kee Audio can suggest some good ones for you.

Hi there I used to have a 01 SS vert, myself. When I did the speakers I got some Infinity coaxials 6.5", that were shallow mount style, and matched up to the factory wiring perfectly, no spacer either. they sounded great too.

The verts need a speaker that is very shallow, like Whitebird mentioned. I have several shallow mount speakers that would work with that application in several price ranges.
