What happens when you press "unlock" on your remote?

Default What happens when you press "unlock" on your remote?

Basically, when you press unlock on your keyless entry fob, what happens? What on the car pics up the signal? Where/how is that signal sent? Can someone please explain to me the chain of events. How does a signal from a remote turn into the actual movement of the lock solenoid?

are you installing an alarm or troubleshooting? this kind of explains it a little:

Installing, thanks for the link, i plan on reading it very thoroughly over and over lol. Anyone have anything else to add?

Ok, how do i access my BCM (body control module)? And what relays do i use for my door unlock switch?

its on the passenger side under the dashboard. i just went to an auto parts store and bought a universal 5 pin, i think it said fog light relay.

Thanks for all the help so far, i appreciate it. So are there any special instructions for installing a relay? Are there different sizes? Or do i just run the wiring into one side and out the other?

Does the BCM say BCM on it, otherwise how do i know what it is?

bcm is a black box with three plugs (with lots of wires) going into it. just go to an auto store and buy a 5 pin relay for fog lights. should be in the lights or electrical section. then you just follow this picture:
