Sail Panels - ed3.6? Looking to replace my commonly blown sail panel speaks in the next couple of weekends. Has anyone used the ed3.6 with a stock amp? They're on sale for 39.99 each on their site. I don't need any crazy bass as I'll probably add a stealthbox later on.
Alternatively, I will do the DVC bazookas from Kee Audio. Is he still running any specials?

Unfortunately.....no Bazookas. I had them for about 2 weeks and they were gone. Of course I only received 1/3 of my order so I still have a back order of over 100 subs. I'm about done with them at this point. Otherwise I'd be happy to run a special on them, if I had any.
The eD's are nice subs, they just require some small modification to get them in. I think they are a half inch too deep so a half inch spacer is necessary if I'm not mistaken.

I got the eD 3.6's the other day and noticed that the bolt holes don't line up. I don't mind cutting the inside, but I have a feeling I'm going to need an adapter to get these bolted in. To clarify, the factory bolt holes look to be slightly larger diameter than most 6.5" speakers, so I'll need to either make a braket or get one for oversize 6.5" speakers.
I wish they were simply a bolt in design, but like everything else, if it's worth doing, it's worth doing right.

I have the ed 7kv.2 which is similar to the 3.6. Yes you need to drill a couple of holes and you will need a spacer, I used a 1/2" spacer but I also read somewhere that a 1/4" spacer would work. Now when replacing the sail panel speakers with Real Subs!! it is a Good practice to put some material in the space where the speaker will go. In this I mean to fill up the hole. I went to Lowes and bought some foam insulation that came in a spray can, the reason for this is to simulate a speaker box. ED says that these speakers are Free to air meaning they don't need a box. However I was driving around with my T-tops out listening to music and I blew out one of my speakers. When I questioned ED they told me that the rating they give the speakers is when it is in a box. Without the box the rating is substantially lower. I fomed up the inside of my panels and have no more problems.
