Default Double Din Issues

Hello guys, I have been working on my 97 Firebird Trans Am trying to get my new Pioneer AVH-P4200DVD to fit. I have searched the forums but hve not found any information to help with my problem.

I trimmed the top of the opening for the radio to make enough room for the radio to fit, but when I push the radio in, it hits the air vent at the top and gets stuck about three quarters of the way in.

Do I have to possibly shave the air vent a bit or remove it? Also, do I need to remove the bottom tray that holds the radio? Any help in the matter would be very appreciated. Thanks.

I don't know how similar the TA radio area is to a Camaro, but I had to trim the back of the tray that holds the radio, where it comes up. I also set my Alpine W203 as low as possible, directly sitting on the tray.
