Default What is the name of the sub box....

About ten years ago when I bought my T/A there was a sub box being built that replace the flipping shield in the rear hatch area. It had a rear facing sub when layed down and when you wanted to store your t-tops you flipped it up and the sub aimed straight up. I built a rough one and never carpeted it. I was just looking for the name, I believe started with an "M" ??? Thanks!

I am horrible at explaining myself. Maybe a few pics of my cr@ppy box will help jog someone's memory. The metal bars at the corners are what the box pivots on in place of the removed cover. Again, thanks for the help.

Sweet. That's what I was looking for. I couldn't even understand what I was asking for in my first post, but you figured it out.

Just curious... why did everyone seem to abandon this type of box?

I always double check my pics to make sure nothing extremely stupid is in the background for people to harass me about. I saw my foot and figured that no one would give a hoot. Just had surgery on my foot. Been out for four weeks already. Worse part is I can't drive the vette (6-speed).

I had mine for years and always got compliments, but decided to switch to a stealthbox set-up. Not sure why subthump stopped producing them.

Not sure. I did not have an fitment issues with the millhouse box, but am having issues with their stealthbox. Their boxes are molded from a Camaro, not a firebird, so it doesn't fit quite right in my t/a. I am in discussion with them about either having them modify the box or getting a refund, as I do not want a box that isn't fitting properly. Still waiting to hear back if they are willing to modify the box or I better get a full refund.

I have one, really like it alot... My only complaint is lack of airspace as its 1.1cu/ft and I have 2 Kicker L7 12's, wish I would have went with 10's due to the lack of airspace. But it still pounds hard enough to distort your vision and make your ears buzz. I mounted my amp under the box to give it a cleaner look. No overheating issues either...

they fit snuggly in there... some people use a towel to prevent them from being scratched but for 8 months I havent scratched them and there tinted so it would show if I did. They dont rattle either, but my subs since there silver created alot of rear window glare, But if you put the cargo cover on backwards it doesnt hit the subs and hides them perfectly...

That's awesome man. I've wanted one of those box's for ever. Looking to put W6's in it if I do. I wonder if the box will be big enough for those subs or not. I have no clue

You will need to put polyfill in the box to trick the sub into thinking theres more airspace then there actually is... Both of mine are loaded up up polyfill, I need to add more tho but my system sounds so clean. I get multiple comments on how good it sounds all the time.

Ya, I've heard that does the trick quite well. Idk how that works really either. Never really looked it up. It'll be a while till I put that set up in. He'll or if I even do. I got so many mods I wanna do first, I'm not to worried about blowing my eardrums with subs rather than listening to my car cammin my face off!
