so there i was enjoying the camaro just driving around when i here this pop and everything dies! I was going up a hill and barely made it into a neighborhood,i look under the hood and my neg. lead is hanging there smoking and there's melted plastic all around it. what causes a battery to just short out, it is about 7 years old but still. should i just go get a new battery or is there something else i need to be looking out for? Thank god for my buddies powerstroke, no tow bill for me

That's a first, got any pictures? Do you have any aftermarket equipment in your car that could have shorted out on the frame of the car?
