Default Big 3. Is there any sense in removing old wire?

Other than ridding the engine bay of some clutter, is there any reason to disconnect the original wires? Obviously I will remove the engine to chassis wire, but perhaps I am becoming old and lazy.

So:
Do I cut and remove it, or do I run both and let the electricity follow the big assed 1/0 gauge path of least resistance?

its up to you, I took the old stuff out when I did mine so make it less messy. You can leave the old stuff there because as you said, electricity always takes the path of least resistance.

Most people leave the old wire there, doesn't hurt.

i plan to do this in the next few weeks and I will probably keep the stock wiring in place. Also, the circuit will not simply flow down the path with the least resistance but will be split between the small and large wires inversely proportional to their resistances. If one wire is 1 ohm and the other is 2 ohm then 2/3 of the current will flow through the 1 ohm wire and 1/3 through the 2 ohm wire. The product of the current and resistance must be the same in both wires. 1*2/3=2*1/3. Also, a 1 ohm wire in parallel with a 2 ohm wire will now give you an overall resistance of 2/3ohm. Just an FYI.

What I did with my old Alt to battery+ cable is to take the cable at the Alternator and attach/add it to the remote battery terminal on the drivers side.

Did you have to use new ring terminals or anything, or was it as simple as moving it over. That sounds like the Big Three and a Half.

All I had to do was reroute about 1-1.5' of the cable at the alternator end.

Wonder why nobody else has ever mentioned this before?

I don't know. I don't know if it helped, but I did it with extra 1/0 because I had the extra wire and pulled out all of the original.

I think it is probably a good idea. If I did it another setup, I would do the "Big 3.5" again.
