Default Upgrade!

I'm going to overhaul the stereo in the SS

Components I'll put in:
Kenwood eXcelon X994
Pioneer and Boston Acoustic 6 3/4 speakers
Kenwood amp to power the above speakers
Sub-Thump stealth box
Pioneer Sub
Infinity amp for sub

At the same time, I'm going to remove the stupid "nuimage" gauge cluster that has flames with a reverse indiglo. I may try replacing the bulbs in the gauge cluster too.

Anyone use any of these components before? I'm not looking to spend a ton of money on this but I do love my music so I like a good system. I figure this should get me a good range.

Why 6 3/4 speakers? You know factory size is 6.5 right? Just asking.

You're gonna love that HU as I installed it in my car a few months back. Incredible sound and I love the customizing of colors available on the display.

Great choice!!!

Thanks! My first Kenwood eXcelon was back in 2000, I believe it was a 7xx model (a lower end of the eXcelon). Had that in my 94 Z28 and it was really nice. After about 6 years, I bought a new Kenwood eXcelon 8xx model and it was an excellent unit, it also has customizable color display. The 9xx models back in the day did NOT come with a MOSFET internal amp, but it seems they do now. I won't be needing it anyways, I plan to run an amp on everything.

I read a lot of reviews and it seems to be a nice unit. I really like it because it is supposed to be the most "interface-able" with iPhones/iPods. Most of my music is on my iPhone so that is what sold me.
