The problem I'm trying to solve is the 'ERR' message when I insert a CD. I'm not a fan of lens cleaning kits, so I took the radio out and disconnected the CD player from the radio. I'm having a difficult time trying to locate the actual lens. From the rear panel perspective, I can see through the opening in the metal case to see the clamping mechanism in the center, and what appears to be the laser pickup assembly in 'front' and slightly to the right of the clamp. Will this metal enclosure come apart further, or do I need to go through the case openings?

Does this look like the lens assembly?

usually a q-tip and alcohol works well.

I'm having a difficult time locating alcohol labeled as 'rubbing'. Will 70/90% isopropyl alcohol work?

i used 70% on the last one i cleaned. worked great. just be careful with it, be very light with pressure and dont touch the lens.

What are you cleaning if you're not allowed to touch the lens?

i mean dont touch it with your fingers. that can mess it up. its ok to touch it with the q-tip.

That was a waste of time. Still the same symptoms.

i'd like to see how to fix this...im on my 3rd delco headunit... I should just quit being lazy and put a double din in and be done with it...
