my sub stopped working now I'm sad. Help!
Ok this would all be MUCH easier if I could find my multimeter... but until I do, I'll see if any of you folks have some ideas for me.
About a week ago I was driving, listening to music at a fairly low volume, and heard the sub go BOOM BOOM BOOM like it was shorting out to something... but it kept working.
(did I pop the hatch to check it out? no... laziness)
It did it again a couple days ago, and kept working.
Now all of a sudden, the sub does not work at all. The amp is powered on, and not in protect mode.
I pulled the sub out, and everything is connected still, and the cone depresses freely (although it's tough, because the magnet is huge)
The amp is a 2000W rms hifonix brutus, the sub is an orion hcca 10.2 3000W sub.
I have my old diamond audio d6 10" sub I can try on it when I get home, but I really don't think it's the sub (although if it is, i do have some replacements)
Let me know what you guys think!
Thanks,
Toby
PS - these are both pretty new items, and neither has been pushed to it's limit due to the fact that I still have the factory alternator, so MAYBE 50% power from the amp, at best.
