I have the the new style W3 not the old school syle..Just 1 12". I'm using a crappy 800 watt amp single chanel amp to power it right now at like half power...It sounds ok...I want better clarity and tight bass.

is that amp 800 peak or rms? i'd imagine peak so that should put rms in the area of 400 or so. thats about right for a w3. i am going to run 330 to a 10w3v3 and thats right in the sweet spot according to the jl site.

I spend up to $400...I'll buy it used, remanufactured, whatever. The amp now I bought used and it's been working great for 2 years.

400?! Jesus! That's a lot just for an amp. Try the Pioneer GM-D8500M good power, CLEAN power and class D. With a bass ****, pretty slick looking too. Can't go wrong, I have one and my friend has one. Both kick ass1

Well they're recommending a max of 500W RMS. I bought a Boston Acoustics GTA-800m for under 300 which puts out 800W x 1 @ 2 Ohms and 500W x 1 @ 4 Ohms (RMS). I matched it with a Polk Audio SR104DVC which is rated at 700W and it sounds great. That amp might be just what your looking for depending on your VC configuration.

I bought a cheap 1000w Crunch Ground Pounder amp for a 12" MTX Terminator and it hits super hard and clean.

Kicker ZX500.1, more power than recomended, mine came with a sheet that had it tested at 603 watts @ 14.4V! I think I picked it up for around 200, and it was a new not refurb. I am only running it on 1/4 gain right now and its more than enough on a 10" L7
