Default lt1 alt upgrade?

Looking to put a bigger alternator on the car. Going to be running 2 amps in the car. One 4 channel and 1 for a single sub. What are your recommendations for brand and output?

unless you are running some ungodly amount of power an oem alternator will be fine. ran 2400 watts rms and 280 watts rms to speakers in a buddys LT1 oem alternator, big 3, and a good battery at full tilt with 2400watts the lights would dim a bit. before we upded the power and it was 1200 watts rms no dimming at all

When I had a single 10" and little amp in my 2000 the damn lights dimmed constantly. I want to make sure I have no problems at all. Powermaster recommended a 200 amp alternator. I won't be running anything near that kind of power. I got a jl audio 4300 amp and then I will get one to run a 10" sub.

a ten and a little amp should not cause dimming like that... you need to do the big3 before putting a bigger alternator in

If you have a 1le or stripped model lt1 then you shoult have the small (80 amp?) alternator. Up grade to the 140 amp alternator in a loaded lt1 car. I did the big 3, single optima yellow top, and 0 Gage knu konceptz wire. I do get a little dimming at full tilt but not bad. I'm sure a small capacitor will fix that. BTW I'm running a 1600watt hifonics amp @ 1ohm and a 600watt mtx 6304.
