Default I replaced the monsoon stuff plus I saved alot of weight

So the 98 WS6 got some stereo upgrades... I also weighed everything to show the savings of ditching the monsoon junk. I also fitted 5.25" front components in the doors nicely (instead of 6.5) so I could use the supplied grills, they fit perfect without any cutting or modding to the door panels,, only just to the factory tweeter covers as seen in the pic. Everyone should note I also ran all new speaker wires to bypass all factory amp and stuff (this is very important to be able to get 100% out of the speakers that I used).

NEW:
-5.25 240w Cadence tweeters, mids and crossovers (front doors) .85kg each side
-6.5 160w Kenwood 2 ways (rear sail panels) .49kg each
-Kenwood Excelon MP3/USB CD 1.55kg

OLD:
-stock tweeters and mids 1.49kg each side
-sail panel subs 1.03kg each
-Monsoon cd player 1.89kg
-hatch speakers .70kg each
-stock amp 1.20kg

So the verdict is I saved a total of 5.3kg (11.68 lbs) just by switching to aftermarket stuff.

haha I knew that was coming hahah yes yes
I still going to remove the stock amp and see how much i lost. The sub I added is super heavy too,,, so if I can get rid of weight anywhere else to add that sub then great.

But for strictly monsoon system VS. 4 speaker w/ aftermarket unit system,,,, the aftermarket system sounds way better and weighs alot less.

edit,,, so I actually finished the calculations on the entire monsoon system,,, I updated the 1st post to include all the weight saved from switching, I am not including the sub and amp system in the weight comparison because that's like comparing apples to oranges, the sub and amp is a far step above a stock monsoon system.

So in closing,,, the stock 10 way monsoon system compared to the 8 way aftermarket system,,, the aftermarket sounds better, will last longer, plays more media and weights almost 12lbs less,,, its a no brain'er.
