So many questions lol, first the box I did not make myself but if people are really interested let me know I might be able to get some built.
The type Rs sound very good, the whole thing sounds awesome, I'm surprised that someone stated they sound better than focals.. those are expensive.. but type Rs really need an amp..
I did lose radio reception as most people do when they switch to a aftermarket deck.
The amps will be hotter than normal but I haven't had any issues yet and its been in the 90s so I'll keep my fingers crossed. Depending on your amps they run hotter or cooler. The amps I picked actually run fairly cool and are super efficient.

As long as the amps are of good quality..which they are in this case...the heat sinks will take care of the excess heat. They may run a little hotter then normal but not much.
Focal are great speakers but they like many audio companies have different levels of speakers so without knowing an actual model of Focal, they very well might sound better. Focal overall is a much better audio company though then Alpine IMO. That does not mean that Alpine doesn't make decent stuff though. Plus everyone has different ears so what sounds right to one, may not sound right to someone else. That is why there are so many flavors out there to choose from!
By the way, nice install!! Looks great!

I think kee audio has it right, it's all about the person listening to it. Focal does have some highend that I am sure are better but also cost like 700.. sooo I dont have that kind of money to throw around...
I almost never listen to the radio in my car, but all my speakers were blown and I had to do something.....

My Focals were the access line, 165 CA1 in the back and 165 A1 in the front. I believe that is their lower end, which probably explains why the Alpine Type R's sound better. Both set ups were on an Alpine MRP-F300 amp.
