Default I have a 2001 camaro, WHAT IS THIS?

Ok so i bought the car a few years back and it had a 12 disk sony cd played in the trunk, i removed the changer.

I never really looked in the wiring of this, but i have been wanting to add a mp3 aux hook up. the wires for the cd player consists of a headphone chord and a round 9 pin chord.

Do i already have an aux adapter in the car wired?

It appears to plug into the antenna port in the back as well being spliced into the red and yellow wires...

That is not an auxiliary adapter - at least not in the normal sense of the term. It's a hard-wired FM modulator for connecting an aftermarket CD changer to the factory head unit. It does basically the same thing as those FM broadcast modulators except that it injects signal directly into the antenna wire to produce cleaner sound with less interference.

That depends. Is it a proprietary interface designed for the CD changer only? Or does it have a standard input plug such as RCA or 3.5mm? If it has a standard plug you can use it to connect almost any music source.

it has a 3.5mm but it also has a chord that looks like a 9 plug round chord that plugged into the cd changer also... but when i plug the 3.5mm into my ipod it does not play music

I suspect that the other cord (as in "cable" rather than chord as in guitar chord ) is for a remote head that provides control of the CD changer. It has controls for changing discs and tracks but it also controls the FM modulator (frequency used and volume compensation). At least that was how it worked on the Pioneer changer I once had. That means that the FM modulator will only work with the changer.

You can get a similar hard-wired FM modulator to work with your iPod at any audio shop. I believe Best Buy has one that's reasonably priced. However, the PAC adapter will give you better sound quality than any FM modulator.
