Is it an aftermarket radio? Do your power windows work all the time as well, or just the radio? If just the radio, it sounds like the power to it is either wired to the always-on (battery) voltage and not to both the battery and ignition voltages... or it is perhaps defective.

that's odd... Remove the radio, look up the wiring diagram and test the voltage on the ignition power wire in the harness. See if it's getting voltage when it shouldn't be. If it is NOT getting voltage then you probably have a bad radio. If it is then you might have a short or a bad ignition switch or something like that.

thank you. i figured out that they are 2 plugs at the back of the door where the latch is, 1 goes into the latch for the power door lock and the other i have no clue where it goes. if i open the passanger door the radio turns off and the clock disappears. so it has to be that loose plug

i have a different but related problem. i do have an aftermarket stereo in my 01 WS6 and it will turn off/short out? randomly and when that happens the windows won't roll down or up and when i turn off the ignition the radio turns off as well even if the door is closed. I have checked the fuses and the wiring seems to be sound, so what else could the problem be? please help i would like to not burn up the wiring in my baby.

Completely different problem. Yours is caused by broken solder joints on the BCM board. Do a search on "BCM fix" and you should find some threads with instructions and photos for the simple fix.
