98 Z with the monsoon system. I had a nice new head unit installed and everything works great. Sounds good most of the time but bad on some songs. I was told I need to bypass the factory amp. Is this true, and is there a "how to" guide for this?

Without more information, I'd suspect you have a bad speaker rather than a bad factory amp. Try using your fade/balance control to isolate each of the doors and hatch speakers, see if any of them sound bad individually. I wouldn't bother upgrading to an aftermarket amp unless you upgraded the speakers first, or your monsoon amp really is bad. You could also just find another monsoon amp on fleabay, they are pretty cheap.
