Default Kill switch to cigarette lighter possible?

Has anyone tried or would know if it be possible to wire up a kill switch to my cigarette lighter and still have it functional as a 12v source?

Instructions, tips or details would be greatly appreciated.

Sure... just cut the positive wire (the one in the center) and put a switch in-line with it. Wires will need extending. The switch should be rated for at least as much as the fuse, which is either 10A or 15A.

I've turned my lighter in to a switch. Push the lighter element=on, pull it out=off. The can't use it as a power source.

If you have to keep it as a spare power port, then shoemike's device looks the way to go.

Shoemike - how exactly does that external adapter work for op's purpose?

Is the external adapter just for a power source & switch on it is a kill switch?
