Default Monsoon turning off intermittently

Guys,

I've got a 80k 2000 SS vert w/ a bone-stock, untouched Monsoon system.
Up til recently, it's been trouble-free. However, the system has started to "turn off" or lose power intermittently while driving. No specific sequence of button-pushing or fiddling seems to bring it back, it will just suddenly come back on by itself.

Any ideas? I know intermittent electrical bugs are the worst, but thought someone might have experienced this before and know what to do to correct it.

Thanks very much in advance for any help or insight you might be able to share.

Happy Holidays,

Steve in Fort Worth

Hey Steve, search for "Cracks in the BCM" or something similar. There are 4 soldering points in the BCM that are prong to cracking (mine needs attention also) and giving the same symptoms that you describe. Seems like a simple fix, just haven't performed it myself yet.

Here is another thread on the BCM solder issue:

Images appear to be missing from the first page of "The Fix" thread that Blu99T/A posted, but you can see a pic of the BCM and the affected solder points circled in the other thread above.

Photos were re-posted later in the thread. The original poster got annoyed at something on the forum and deleted all his pictures.

Thanks for the tips, everyone, I will check it out.

In regard to the power window question - no, no problems w/
the windows' operation. Just the radio suddenly going silent, then
coming back on.
