Default escort 9500ix.....how do i make louder

so when im driving with the stereo only like halfway up, its very hard to hear the detector go off......so for maximum effectiveness i cant listen to the radio while driving.....so i went and bought these 50 dollarcomputer speakers, a pair.....when i plug them in, i find out that it only comes out of one speaker....so it plays out mono not stereo......it is slightly louder than the detector, and i feel if both of them worked, i could put them in the rear cupholder and be set....but it only plays mono.....what can i do to make both speakers work? i also thought about getting one of those as seen on tv speakers....its only a single speaker, so if i bought 2 and had a headphone spltter, i may be in buisness.....any thoughts?

You could just splice the wires and run the mono signal to each speaker separately, not sure if that would work or not.. I guess it would depend on how your computer speakers are set up.

Not the easiest to do but it is possible, or buy an actual splitter.. figure out which line is giving you the audio and plug it into the splitter, then you've got two identical lines to plug into your inputs on the pc speakers.

Escort makes an external speaker specifically for what you want. It has a built-in amplifier and is quite easily heard over other noise. With a little work you can mount it in the console so that it looks somewhat factory installed.

Here is the description on the Escort site: http://www.escortradar.com/store/auxiliary-speaker.html

Yes, you could connect two to a single power source but why would you need two of them? One is quite loud enough to be easily heard.

And why would you want to have to replace batteries regularly?

batteries=less cords=cosmetically more appealing.....my intentions were to have to speakers velroed into my rear cupholders.......but since these are square, not sure if they would fit.......so i would then put them in my center console...........inside the center console may be just a tad harder to hear, so i would just get two......for only 30 bucks thats reasonable

actually after looking at your pic again, i bet they would fit in the cupholders........plus ill get two just to make sure i hear it go off

also, can someone explain to me how to hardwire these into my car.....again id like for them to be in the back cupholders, and would like to keep an open 12 volt in case of gps or phone charger
