Default Rearview mirror w/ temp and compass

Did a search on this and there's nothing recent so wanted to see if anybody has added a compass/temp mirror lately. The problem I'm having is that Gentex no longer sells a model with map lights so I dug around and found that **** sells one with the lights. It has the displays below the mirror instead of in the mirror but otherwise looks pretty good. Anyone know if the **** is any good or if there is another option?

Looks like Gentex sold that line of Mirrors to Mito. They are still made with the same model number - 50-GENK30. It will just be listed under another brand name now:

Yeah, I looked at that website too and they list the map light mirror, but like all the others it's out of stock and not likely to be re-stocked so I'm looking for other options and the **** is all I can find for now. Just can't give up my map lights.

Did you try other sellers. There are places online that show them in stock:
http://www.driveinautosound.com/mito50genk30.aspx

The Mito site says they are temporarily out of stock. This is normal for car parts. As soon as they do the next production run, they should be back.

Wow, Thanks for the help. There are a few different part numbers and can be confusing searching the interwebs.

Pulling this from another car would be a major PITA. The kit from Mito will come with a wiring harness and the temperature probe. If you pulled one from another car, you'd have to recreate the harness and figure out where the stock temperature probe is and how to get it and its wiring.

The only realistic way I could think you could pull this off would be to find a car at a pull-a-part and do a lot of research on the wiring and where the temp probe is.

If I knew what car had these I could potentially save $200, worth the research to me. My time is FREE.

The Helm manuals you'll need to do the research could cost more than $200.

Something I've considered for this (eventual) project is relocating the map lights, somehow. It would at least open up a lot more options for the mirror. I just don't know where to relocate them to, both for looks and functionality.

Update: Looks like the Gentex/Mito map light mirror is officially discontinued. It still shows up on many websites, but I have tried ordering from 2 different sites now and they say it is no longer available and refund my purchase. So I guess I'll just have to carry a compass and thermometer in my pocket all the time! I have seen some on fleabay used but who wants to take a chance on used electronics bought on-line...not me.

Very depressing....

I called Mito today and it is indeed discontinued. The sales rep said that they can no longer source the parts for the map lights and can't make them any more - even though its one of their most popular models.

I was referred to S&S Automotive in Elmhurst, IL. They have a 50-GENK-31 for $350. IMO - that's a rip-off, so I passed. Whoever wants it - its there for the taking. Just talk to the people in the installation dept.

BTW - The K-30 comes with a full aftermarket harness. The K-31 comes with the GM harness. I doubt the K-31 is plug and play for us as its designed for other cars. Modifications are most certainly required. I also don't know if the K-31 comes with the temperature sensor, or not.
