LED tail lights... whats your thoughts
Hey all, I'm looking into having a place produce a set of LED honeycomb tail lights, complete with sequential flashing controller. problem is that they're not cheap to do as a 1 off unit... If i can get about 10 people interested in them i can get the cost down to about $900-$1000. I know that's still expensive, but they come with a lifetime warranty. If i had uber amounts of $$ to throw at it i would order 100 units and they would be closed to $4-500 each.
THOUGHTS...?????

Its because they have to do all the designing work, and cut the boards, line the LED's and program the box to control them... he was only shooting me a quote, he said to see how many i think i could really buy before giving me a actual price.. If you got someone that can do it cheaper i'm all ears.. its something i really want to do but with the prices he said i'm thinking it might be out of the ballpark... the problem is that no one makes any after market lights for this car.. and i dont want some Euro crap
That price was also including them providing the light housings

There are plenty of members on other car forums, possibly even this forum that have done their own custom LED taillights for around $50-$100. If you want, I can PM you a writeup on it.

I dont want a simple sequential kit, and LED replacements. I want a LED in every honeycomb of the tail light.

You're kidding, right? You want to build a logic circuit that will sequentially activate dozens (if not more) of rows of LEDs just to be different? And then have nobody behind you really recognize what the signal means because nobody has ever seen it before? I'm all for originality and innovation but not at the expense of common sense.

Why settle for 3 when you can have 24
You could put the led's in on boards and and run up to 24 channels per side with the board I did. It gives a cool sequential plus special effects that 3 bulbs can't. Check out the turn signals and hazzards in the videos below

THAT right there, but with 23 (I counted a minute ago) vertical columns of varying numbers of LEDS (as it gets shorter toward the outside) per column and bang there is the look the OP is going for.
