Default non monsoon stereo

I need to replace all my speakers. 3 of them are blown out and the other 3 are on their way. What size are they? I plan on running infinity Kappa series if they come in the proper sizes.

The four larger ones are either 6" if you believe GM, or 6.5" if you believe some folks. I replaced my defective original door speakers with the Kappa Infinity ones, was not happy with them and went back to originals, which I found on eBay. When I removed the Infinity's, I discovered they were torn even worse than the originals even though they were only 2 years old.

Hmm maybe they were defective products, my friend has em in his 1969 Camaro with a Kenwood Exceleon 12" sub and they sound so crisp and clean.

Your speaker selection will depend on whether you have a Monsoon system. The base 4-speaker system is like any other car since the '70s - four full-range speakers that can be replaced with just about anything on the market. The Monsoon system is completely different and using full-range (coaxial) speakers will sound terrible. I suggest you read the Monsoon FAQ sticky at the top of the section to learn about the specific types of speakers used in different positions to match the signal filtering performed by the amp.

It is not possible for you to have a 6-speaker (actually eight speakers in six locations) system without it being a Monsoon system. The base system had only four speakers. The Monsoon system added tweeters in the doors and 4" speakers in the hatch area. There was no system in between those two.

At any rate 6 1/2" speakers fit perfectly in the doors and sail panels.

If you are handy you can fit 5 1/4 in the very back up to you. It's really just filler.
