Default Whats this extra cable for?

On the back of the stock monsoon radio in a 2002 firehawk their are two quick connect plugs. One which has all the speaker wires, power, ground, and so on. Then theres a smaller set of wires that plugs into the center rear of the radio with about 4 wires going into it. Anyone know what this set of wires are for?

Even without a CD Changer? I didnt have a changer in my car. Perhaps its prewired for one, then all they had to do is install one and plug the other end in.

I was thinking it was the steering wheel controls. But then I wasnt sure, since I thought they operated on infra red, like a remote.

The second connector should be a 9-pin connector with only five pins actually used. That is the CD changer harness - it is installed on all Monsoon systems whether or not you have a changer. The other end is taped to the left rear speaker harness under the hatch if you don't have a changer installed.

The steering wheel controls are hardwired not infrared. There is a single wire in the main radio harness that measures the resistance caused by pressing different switches on the steering wheel.
