Default Sound Deadening Question

I'm new on the sound deadening mats. I've read a long time ago that one or two mats will deaden sound. All the threads I've seen here have the WHOLE CAR seemingly covered in Dynamat. I'm just trying to make my trunk have less road/exhaust noise. Any advice?

there are several different types of deadener, some are for panel vibration, some are for actual sound blocking, like mass loaded vinyl and jute (the padding under the carpet), guys do the whole car because that is best, there are problem areas you could focus on if budget is an issue but best to do it all.

I'm thinking about one square between the rear tie downs on top of the wheel well hump, and two squares behind the passenger seat backs. Will this work?

start with the wheel wells, then the far back where the t-tops go and the doors, those are the biggest areas for noise aside from the floor board.

Do you still have the flap that covers the T-Top compartment in the trunk? I've found that the noise is dramatically reduced when that thing is on and shut.

Things are also quieter when there is a body in the trunk.

Only if you gag 'em and bag 'em right.

Has anyone used quick roof? I seen a thread a while back where a guy was going to try it out but can't find the tread.

my brother used that to do his car when we were in high school. smelled like tar in the car, and didnt stick all that well if you didnt heat it up perfectly as you were applying it.

The only downside is the massive addition of weight.

I would choose something that is specifically made to go on cars. Its more expensive, but you will avoid all the little problems that cheap stuff will bring.

If you quiet it down to much, may have to listen to the wife (or girlfriend).

I used Peel & Seal from Lowes. Had very little smell while applying and 0 smell after 2 days. Even the next day you could not really notice it and all the panels were still off the car.

I only did my doors and the sail panel area round the speakers.

The Florida heat did not cause the stuff to sag or fall off. I installed it in August. It was soo hot outside I had to use one of my commercial blower fans to keep myself from melting.

You could always seal the edges with HVAC tape but i didn't.

The Peel & Seal seems to have the best results on the forums I researched on (besides Dynamat and other car specific insulation).

I have Hertz HSK 165's powered by JL HD 600/4 and have zero rattles.
