Best speaker and subwoofer brand IYO?

JL and JBL. Is there a major difference?
BTW local market has your kenwoods, pioneers, JVCs and Alpines and other brands. Are those any good? What are the absolute top-tier brand for cars in that range?

honestly this is a hard question to answer.
as a general rule I do Pioneer for headunits but would never use there amps and have no experience with there subs.
Eclipse was an excellent brand but they really cut back on what they make these days so it's hard to find there top tier stuff.
what you have to remember is many brands have higher end and lower end options, it really isn't just about brand either, the material type of the speaker (pressed paper cone, plastic, metal) all have there different uses and a good pressed paper cone will give the best sound quality IMO but don't have the resilience of the plastic cones.
