Default I just installed an aftermarket headunit. What happened to my bass?

Everything was stock in my car's audio system. I just replaced the head unit for a head unit with USB support and now my bass is non-existent. Why is this and how can I fix it?

Is that a 4 or 10 speaker system, don't know if that year had a "bass" module or not.

It's a 10 speaker system. I checked behind the emergency wheel thing and there's no amplifier but there was bass before i put the stereo. There was never an amplifier when I got the car.

Did I forget to connect something or what?

Are you sure?

Also on your head unit make sure you check the equalizer settings. Same thing happens to me until I turned "Enhanced Bass" on.

Did someone edit that pic?

Here is the original:

(That's my pic, in the Monsoon FAQ, but that's not my web host).

Besides... it's very important to have the spare tire labeled as a point of reference to ensure proper context.

However, every 10-speaker system has an amp but not every 10-speaker system is a Monsoon. The OP's 1996 would have had the "premium" (non-Monsoon) 10-speaker system with the amp located in the right sail panel behind the trim panel next to the rear seat and powering only the sail panel subs.

The first thing to check is the fuses - particularly the ACCY fuse (it may be labeled RADIO ACCY or POWER ACCY) that protects the amp.

Beyond that, there have been several questions along the same lines and all have turned out to be settings in the new head unit. Check your owner's manual or post head unit make and model for help here.

He could also have the one sub in the back. If he doesn't tap the amp signal wire to switch power it won't work. I wanna say it's like a pink wire on the car harness needs to be attached to a yellow or orange. can't remember exactly as it's been since 2006 since i had an LT1 car but that's the last thing i remember when i did mine ~Cole~

Exactly. Need clarity and context. Plus the shock sensor is labeled too.

The 1993-2002 f-body doesn't have a remote turn on wire and that is not how the factory amp is triggered. It is signal sensing. The pink wire is to tell the antenna to raise and different headunits trigger that differently (stock = always up, aftermarket = usually only up when using FM).

Yeah i wasn't sure what color wire but my '96 Z28 had the one sub on the back hatch area on the drivers side. I remember having to do something with a wire to trigger the sub to start working but cant remember what it was now...

That would be a Bose system which was the premium audio system in 93-96 Camaros. Firebirds had a different premium audio system with subs in the sail panels.

Double check your polarity.

It couldn't be a polarity issue if the OEM speakers are still in place and the new head unit was connected using a harness adapter.

true ... provided that it was wired properly from the head unit to the harness. All it takes is just one of those 6.5 mid bass drivers to be wired reversed and you're 180° out on the main source of low end on that stock system.
