Default stubby antenna

So in my search for a camaro, they all seemed to have the obnoxiously tall factory antenna. So when I got mine the first thing I did was replace It with a 3" from ebay for $5. Easy as screwing it on, I think it was the only modification I've done to the car that I didn't have some kind of issue, hah, and the reception is just as good, plus I think it looks better. Im sure some of you guys have other ways of doing it. I just didn't want to have to fill a hole and have it repainted. So if you're looking to get rid of the factory one, Id highly suggest the ebay route for once.

They should work just fine on the T/A. I'm pretty sure GM uses almost the same damn antennas on most of their cars(the whip ones i mean). One thing i may do is put a dab of thread locker on it to make sure nobody can easily take it off

It will not work on most T/As because it is designed to replace the fixed mast antenna rather than the power antenna that was standard on most years of 4th generation Trans Ams.

Personal opinion... I don't see how that thick (but short) antenna looks any better than the factory whip which is thin enough to be almost unnoticeable from any distance.

Personal preference i guess. Most don't care either way what antenna they have. They should have put them in the rear glass on these cars

The whip is outdated but the 16-year-old car isn't?

I just bought a 13" antenna. The tiny ones are just too small IMO.

Personally, I don't listen to regular radio any more (unless I'm borrowing someones elses car that doesn't let me hook my tablet into easily) and I wonder how far away from the city you receive radio from you guys that say it doesn't effect reception are? I'm halfway between Chattanooga and Atlanta so even on stock antenna cars reception isn't that great, I'll bet it would be non existent with one of those.

as for the "stubby" antenna I just think they look worse then the stock antenna, but personally I just like the "clean" look so I say ditch the antenna completely and if you must have one do one of those hidden ones I've seen on here.

I think this is what he is referring to: https://ls1tech.com/forums/stereo-el...m-antenna.html. But that would leave a hole to fill in the quarter panel and you said you didn't want that.

hidden antenna thread https://ls1tech.com/forums/stereo-el...m-antenna.html

"shaved" antenna thread https://ls1tech.com/forums/general-m...haved-you.html

antenna disappears and you FILL the hole and paint the panel.
