Default Connecting a Battery charger HELP!

Ok on our cars just have a quick question, I have a portable battery charger but never used it on these cars(2002 ws6) so can anyone let me know when connecting do we just put positive on positive and negative on negative ? Or do I need to put negative on like a ground around the engine bay or what? Please let me know as soon as possible thanks

Connect the positive cable first when attaching the charger and remove the positive cable last when detaching it so there's no sparks that could cause the battery to explode.
