Default How to connect ground & power wires to amp?

Okay, I'm a little stumped here. When I installed my Hifonics GLX60.4 amp, I used open-ended ring terminals to hook up my power & ground wires. Now I have a sub & another Hifonics ZRX1200.1D amp. I thought maybe I could just stick the bare wire into the opening & screw it down, but there's no way the 4 gauge wire will fit in there. Are there terminals made specifically for this purpose, or what do you use for this? Something that should be so simple is kicking my butt!

Did you twist the end of the wire before inserting it so no errant wire would be sticking out and blocking the ring? Did you back off the set screw all the way?

Yes to both, I even took the set screw all the way out. The wire is simply bigger than the hole, even though the amp requires 4 gauge.

Are you sure you have 4 gauge wire and not 2 or 0? I have one of their Brutus 1500D amps, and the 4Ga slid right in without any issue.

Also, in looking at those are you putting the wire in at the right angle? I know it's a dumb question, but it's valid.

I like my amps with connections like this, I can't see any reason your 4 gauge "db link" (IIRC) wire wouldn't fit there, I've put Monster Cable and KnuKonceptz wire into those without issue, the trick is to pick up the amp and get the wire in BEFORE mounting the amp to the surface of where your mounting it, the angle is to extreme to feed the wires with the amp screwed down.

also make sure you have a "clean" (not frayed) end to slide into it and if you twist the end of the wire and give it a spin as you slide it in that can help too.

they have special lugs u can get that transfer the size of the wire down ie from 0 to 2 and so on and so forth and they allow you to screw the wire in place in the transfer itself no soldering required ...or you can be ghetto and trim some of the wires off just so u can manage connecting it i have a 1500.1 d ZRX and a 600.4 zrx and they both accept 4ga and 12 easily u must have 2 or 0

That was the primary issue right there. That, and just walking away from it for a couple days & coming back with a fresh mind, really helped. Got everything hooked up & working now!
