Question Removing factory monsoon head unit

Ok guys, what is the trick to removing this thing?

Here is what I've done so far:

1.) Remove trim piece (was able to do this by hand)
2.) Remove three 7mm screws
3.) Pull unit out to access wiring on the back but it only comes out about half way before all of the slack is out of the harnesses!!!

What kind of design is that? Just make the wires long enough for me to get the stereo out!!!

Am I missing something? I can barely fit my hand up through the footwells and could probably disconnect that way, but it just seems totally unnecessary and will not be easy to reconnect later.

its caught on something ....reach your hand up through the footwell on the drivers side and try to feel for the harness otherwise if you have a smaller hand try and take the bezel off the speedo cluster and see and or try and d/c it from their.

as a side note it may be the anntena wire on the right side i think try and angle the head unit to d/c that its a large black wire and extremely short and annoying

I just pulled mine out and it was the same, barely long enough.

Should be long enough to pull most of it out and unplug it. Probably caught on something. Grab a flashlight and look behind to see if you can free it up.

Ok I was able to dislodge the stuck harness and get access to the connections.

Now what do I do to disconnect these? The far one doesn't even look like it's possible to disconnect from the side at the radio. Where do I disconnect it?

Thanks for the help. Sorry for the craptastic photos.

By the far wire, if you mean the bigger black wire, that's the antennae wire. It'll pull out. The other ones will pull out too, but look for clips so you don't break them.

each plug has a release tab that must be compressed to remove it.

Yes the antenna wire. So that just pulls out.

As for the other two, are the release tabs all on the side? Sorry for the questions but I don't want to break the connectors.

The release should be on the top, in the center of the jack.
