Easiest fit Double DIN stereos
I'm about to look into the Double DIN upgrade. The DIN options are pathetic and 1.5 DIN options don't exist. From my searches it seems Pioneers which are 7" wide x 6.5" deep x 3.9" high have the easiest fit w/ minimal to no trimming. Are there other models that fit just as good as the Pioneer Double DINs?

"double DIN" is a standardized size specification. It refers to a head unit with a 180mm x 100mm face. That is 7" x 4" within a few thousandths. The depth is not part of the standard so that can vary between manufacturers. Almost all aftermarket head units are deeper than the factory Delco so you will have to bend or remove the factory rear support tab. Other than that, all brand name double DIN head units will fit about the same... give or take small manufacturing tolerances.

Im assuming your talking about depth. Right now, since its mechless, the Alpine ILX-007 is 1/2 the depth of a typical double din HU. There is poissibly more, but thats only one I know off the top of my head.
I have a Pioneer sph-da120 in my car and install was not bad at all. It's a bit tight depth wise and I did have to remove the rear bracket, but not bad.
