Default how do disable dash lights????

I know you can just remove the 'gauges' fuse but extra gauges (oil, water temp, tach) have been wired into that power source and I'd like to just disable the dash lights. Is there one bulk connector that supplies power to the gauges and lights behind the dash?? thanks.

you can remove the headlight switch and the dash light wire is right there , gray ,i believe, it is that color on most GMs . you will have to use a pick tool to push the tabs that keep the plug secured to the dash, the actual switch pushes in the plug and is held on with a couple of 7mm screws once the dash bezel is removed. verify with a volt meter, it should have 12 volts with the rheostat (dimmer) all the way up and go down in voltage as you dim the dash lights

Why not just turn the dimmer all the way down so that they don't come on?
