Default Sub for stealth box?

I am trying to figure out what the best sub for me is. I don't listen to rap or any music that has tons of bass. I just want to add a little low end to what I already have. It will be powered by an amp with 400W peak and 200W continuous. I am on a budget and I would like it to be a 10. I was looking at a JL 10w0. I have heard a few people who loved it and a few people who said it was crap. Any advise welcome.

Thanks
Adam

I've got an image dynamics IDQ10 in a subthump stealthbox. I like it a lot. I listen to rap, blues, metal, and hard rock.

What amp are you going to power it with? JL W0s are great low buck subs. There are better subs out their but they cost more. You will not find a better sounding sub in the same price range I guarantee it. Anyone who says JL subs are crap doesnt know what they are talking about. I have tried most the major brands with my own installs and nothing compares to the clarity and quality output that comes with a JL subwoofer.

It will be powered by a Sony SM475GSX. I know it is not the best amp in the world but it is what I have.

Thanks

I have an elemental designs 10 in my sub thump box. www.edesignaudio.com The k series should be good for your application. Go with a dual 2 ohm wired in series to get 4 ohms.

Both the e10k and the IDQ10 work amazing in that type of box. Trouble is, the e10k series is discontinued and the new series hasn't been released yet. So that puts eD out of contention unless you look for a used one. Other than those two, I'd say the Alpine Type R and Type S and the JL w0-w3 would be the next best thing IMO.

i have a 10w3v2 and it sounds great for the enclosure and where it is. I have a jl 300/2 bridged powering it. You could also go with an alpine 10" type are. discountjungle dot net has them cheap. you could even get you a lanzar amp to push it and still be at your budget.
