Default Xm Raido Install Help

I Have A 2004 Silverado And Put In A Xm Radio. I Got Power From The Fuse Box On The L/h Dash Panel. My Problem Is That When I Turn Off The Key The Xm Radio Goes Off,but The Dash Radio Stays On For 10 Min Or Until A Door Is Opened Giving Me Static. I Use A Preset On The Dash Radio For The Xm Raido To Send A Signal.

I Tried A Test Light On The Radio Fuses And They Are Hot All The Time. I Assume The Radio Goes Off And On Using The Ground Side Of The Circuit. Am I Right?? If I Am Right, Does Anyone Know Where I Can Pick This Ground Up??

Thanks In Advance For Any Replies....... Freightlinerdale

I did some reasearch with Google.....

Here is a guy that installed a Pioneer XM unit in his 2003 Silverado.

Here are some wiring diagrams:

(I found it in the above thread)

Read the thread for more info about hooking it up to RAP (Retained Accessory Power).

I know its a 2003, but the 2003 & 2004 might be the same. I dont know.

When I installed mine I tapped the power to the head unit. That will help I am sure.

What you do is get a test light and find the wire that is hot when the radio is on and key off, and loses the power when the door is open. Thats the wire you want to use to power your XM. That way as soon as you open your door your radio and XM will go out at the same time.
