Default Steering Wheel Change

I have a 2002 B4C Z28 and it had the Vynil steering wheel from the factory. I bought the Leather Wraped version (with steering controls) off of the parts board. How to I change the wheel with out blowing my face off with the airbag?

Thanks!
Kevin

Disconnect the battery! its the first thing you do. Ive never pulled an airbag on an Fbody, should come off with screws in the back of the steering wheel, then there is a plug for the airbag... after that you should be able to pull the steering wheel... wait for some more replies incase I am forgetting something...

Speaking about airbags, I sleep with one under my bed every night. (Camaro airbag, Ive had it for years for some reason...)

two screws will remove the airbag
then undo the large bolt in the center
then you need a wheel puller tool ($10) to remove the wheel.
DONE..

I'm pretty sure it can still go off for some period of time after you disconnect the battery, due to a charged capacitor. They do this because the battery could be distroyed in a front end collision. So wait for a half hour after disconnecting the battery for it to discharge.

Take the old one and blow it up
With an extention cord and a battery its awesome. I have a friend at a dealership that manages to miss the Garbage and land them in his truck bed. Lots of fun to blow up-
