Thats a great looking starter system.

If your looking for an even greater upgrade to your sound system. Get a four channel amp, and a set of good seperates like CDT's or Focal's.

Bridge two channels for your subs, and amplify your new component speakers. You'll enjoy better sound and more volume all around.

But good job nonetheless

You'll change your mind after you lose enough hearing.

why do you say that? Getting an amp will allow them to go louder but trust me. they get loud enough and stay clear for my taste

My hat goes off to you if you can manage to stop buying audio equipment. Especially after you've heard bigger and better systems and your ***** shrinks by a couple of inches.

While SPL comes with more power. You have to hear what a good set of front speakers can do with some amplification. The sound quality is impressive as well.

If your happy with the quality, leave it be.

I think i can finally say that i am done buying audio equipment. My ears have had it! I will keep what i have, and replace it if it fails, but will NOT be upgrading. I have too many thousands of dollars into this stuff. Very cool stuff though for sure!

Actually the speakers will sound markedly better at all volumes when given proper (clean) amplification due to the fact that they won't distort as quickly. Any quality aftermarket amplifier is generally better than oem stuff.

Your setup is similar to what I had in mind. I have a 99 z28. I put the DEHP7700MP in, which i also bought from best buy. It sounds just as good as the stock HU, however not as loud(maybe because I don't want to risk blowing my stock system). I was wanting to do alpine 6.5's all around with a 4 channel alpine amp. The bass would come later. Anyway, I am also very pleased with the new deck. Having MP3 is very nice. ...just my $.02.

You can get a decent 4 channel amp for about $100. It would improve sound and save life from your head unit. Just a suggestion.

Where did you locate the amp. Is it powering the front speakers or the sub?
