Subwoofer question
Okay, has suggested by rogue leader in another thread I upgraded my speakers to the same speakers suggested to keep the stock monsoon deck (used JL 6w0s for my 6.5s instead of the rockfords however). I decided later to change the deck out anyways and am now running a Kenwood deck (KDC-MP728). I know nothing about hooking up stereo equipment etc so all I can tell you is that I had this done at Tweeter and I think they did an excellent job using the existing amp etc. The problem I'm having though is the 6.5 JLs aren't really puting out the bass I was looking for. I'm sure they are capable but it seems like they are being run more of a midrange, they dont really even sound like subwoofers for the most part. Everything the way it is sounds excellent minus bass. So I'm wondering, if I run a whole new amp instead of the factory amp, bringing everything to 4Ohms, would my sound/bass be significantly better? Or would I be better off spending the extra money and having a single 10'' or 12'' JL put in the trunk? Which would yield the better results? I'm not looking for anything to really hit hard, and I don't want to lose my T-top storage, I am looking to put the sub where the current disc changer is. And would a 10'' likely be more what im looking for then a 12''?

10 or 12, either way. if you want to feel it, ditch the 6's. if you just want a better 6 that hits.....try the crystal ssw 5.25 instead. could also have gotten better components with stronger mid bass and you probably would have been happy. just listen around to other systems and plan it out better this time so you buy it once. instead of 3 or 4 times before you're happy.
if tweeter is any thing like short circuit or worst buy, i doubt you will find the sound you're after in equip there.

i wouldn't have swapped out your stock speakers for JL 6w0's. maybe the 6 1/2" component set, which lacks midbass unless you sound deaden your doors well. honest i'd say keep what you have and do some deadening and have a friend that knows stereos well tune it for you and get things sounding better. also i'd say find yourself a nice 12" sub and put it in a sealed box, personally JL isn't my preference. then i'd get a good sized 4 channel amp, run the components up front off your amp and bridge the back channels for the sub, rear fill isn't that great i've come to find out. if you'd like hit me up on aim at imsolost7886 and we can discuss anything you need about stereos and maybe i can explain anything that confuses you.
