kx600.1 input sensitivity
Trying to tune my amp to head unit. I have a pioneer deh-p77dh H/U with 4v pre-outs, going to a kx 600.1 amp, going to a 2ohm load. what should my output voltage be at the speaker terminals on the amp for maximum power. I'm going to use a 50 hz test tone at 0db.

If I could figure out that formula it would help. Thanks though. Anybody know. The amp made 745watts peak on the birth certificate. Don't know if that helps or not for you math guys.

remember that 745 is peak power under perfect conditions. turned all the way up, id expect closer to the 600w. also, the sound usually is better when the amp isn't puttin out its absolute max. i have the 600.1, and it is sweet.

Well that didn't work.
I used a 50hz test tone at 0db, turned the amp gain all the way down, and the headunit up to just before clipping. When I measured the voltage it was constantly changin. The meter would show like 4v, 25v, 2v, 14v. It just kept fluctuating. Then the would repeat. So I used the highest number in the fluctuation. I adjusted the gain till the max it fluctuated to was 38.5v. Gain was maybe 1/8th way up. Hooked the speaker back up and did not have nearly enough bass. I did it by ear and it sounds the best and loudest with the gain almost all the way up. I'm confused.

It shouldn't have fluctuated with a 50hz test tone.
Oh well, trust your ears. After that just turn it down a little bit.
Or don't and enjoy the little bit of extra power along with the added distortion.

I'll pass on the distortion thanks. lol. Maybe my meter can't be used for that. The only AC volt settings it has are 200v and 300v. So I used 200. But it should still work. I dunno.
