Default Stock CD Player Messing Up

Today when i was listening to the radio i noticed the sound kinda fluxuating, getting quieter then louder. has anyone else had this problem? is it time for a new head unit? i would only looking to spend $150 for a new one, what do you guys recommend?

Well, I'm going to be the *** who asks just to make sure you know about speed volume compensation.

It's the little slider ring adjustment outside of the main volume ****. All the way up, and the volume will go up and down to compensate for speed noise.

All the way down is off.

Besides, Firebirds don't have speed compensated volume like Camaros.

Does the volume fluctuate when playing CD's? Or just the Radio? Does it do it on both AM and FM stations? Just trying to get a full picture here.

it does it for CDs and the radio, idk about AM but it does do it for FM. idk if this has happened to you but when you burn a crappy quality CD, that is what it sounds like when the volumn gets lower.
