need some help with my shift light

need some help with my shift light ok well, its an autometer light by itself. 5000 rpm pill in there works fine. then i put 5800 from the same set and it doesnt work. then i put in my 6000,6200,6400 and none of them work. i had the 6600 replaced by speed inc cause that is where i got the 6000-6800 set, what can i look at to see what is going on with the shift light? went to the track today and that pissed me off.
